If I chose a character from the Outsiders to be my friend it would be Ponyboy. I would chose Ponboy because he is probably the nicest of all the greasers. I would also pick Ponyboy because he is my age. We are both smart and enjoy school. They say that on page 4 when they talk about Ponyboy. The best part of Ponyboy is that he isn't cocky or annoying like the other Greasers. Ponyboy and I are both sensative also. I would really like Ponyboy as a friend because he is kind.

We all know that the fifth commandment is: Thou shall not kill. With that in mind, tell me what you would be feeling AND what you would do now if you were Johnny at the end of Chapter 4.
If I was Johnny when I killed that Socs, Bob I would feel very sad because of what I just did. I wouldn't be so sad because I killed him because it was for self-defense and that they would have killed Ponyboy by drowning him in the fountain. I would have probably would have asked someone what to do like a friend. I would be really nervous if I would get I trouble by the police and my parents. I would probably run somewhere to hid and if I got caught I would ust tell them what happened and why I killed him. Hopefully one of my friends would help me find away not to get in trouble. I would probably not even kill Bob because I think that would be against the law and I would just try to stop them from killing my bes friend Ponyboy.

Thanks for commenting on my thoughts Nick. I also commented on this question and had a similar feeling except, that I would turn myself in. This would save my friends that were with me from being accused of something they didn't do or, having to run away if I didn't turn myself in. I enjoyed your paragraph but next time reread your work.

When the author says Johnny wasn't behaving at all like his old self...That was the first time I saw him without the defeated suspicious look the author is inferring that Johnny is usually sad and depressed of the time he got beat up by a lot of Socs. Now though, he was happy and grinning and that suprised that Johnny wasn't like himself. That was the author was inferring when he talked about Johnny on pg. 92 in the Outsiders. ~This doesn't answer the question. ~Mrs. Best

I agree with all that you say. When I read your answer I was thinking the exact same thing. Johnny was hurt because of the Socs. But I would also like to interrogate your answer. I would also like to add, that Johnny was getting treated like dirt at his house. His family didn't care if he didn't come home or not. They didn't believe in love, or family, I guess you could put it. But besides this you hit the answer right on the button.
